The Import Export Executive is responsible for managing and facilitating the smooth movement of goods and materials across international borders. This role involves coordinating with vendors, suppliers, shipping companies, customs authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant import and export operations. The executive will handle the documentation, customs clearance, and ensure adherence to international trade regulations and company policies.
Import/Export Documentation:
Prepare and review import/export documentation, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and bills of lading.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of documents to avoid shipment delays or customs issues.
Customs Compliance & Clearance:
Ensure that all shipments comply with local and international customs regulations.
Coordinate with customs brokers to clear goods through customs smoothly.
Stay updated on changes in import/export regulations, duties, and taxes.
Logistics Coordination:
Work with freight forwarders and shipping carriers to schedule and monitor shipments.
Coordinate with warehouses and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and pickup of goods.
Communication & Coordination:
Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers, shipping agents, and customers on import/export issues.
Provide regular updates to management regarding the status of shipments and any potential delays or issues.
Inventory Management Support:
Ensure the correct quantities of goods are shipped and received, and monitor inventory levels as needed.
Trade Documentation & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with international trade agreements, import/export licenses, and regulations related to the movement of goods.
Maintain records of all import/export transactions for auditing and reporting purposes.
Problem Solving:
Address any issues that arise during the import/export process, including delays, damaged goods, or regulatory inquiries.
Work with suppliers and logistics teams to resolve any logistical or operational challenges.
Cost Management:
Monitor and control the costs associated with import/export activities, identifying opportunities for cost savings or optimization.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in import/export operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
Familiarity with international trade laws, customs procedures, and freight forwarding.
Skills:
Strong understanding of international shipping procedures, customs documentation, and trade regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of ERP or logistics management software is a plus.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
