X-Ray Technician

An X-ray technician, also known as a radiologic technologist, uses imaging equipment to create images of the human body for diagnosis and treatment, ensuring patient safety and comfort while operating equipment and maintaining records. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Operating Imaging Equipment:

  X-ray technicians operate various imaging equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, and mammography units, to capture images of the body. 

• Patient Care:

  They prepare patients for imaging procedures, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety, including minimizing radiation exposure. 

• Image Acquisition:

  They position patients and equipment accurately to obtain clear images, and adjust equipment settings to optimize image quality. 

• Image Processing and Evaluation:

  They process and evaluate images for quality and accuracy, and may assist in identifying abnormalities or diseases. 

• Record Keeping:

  They maintain accurate patient records, including imaging reports and procedures. 

• Equipment Maintenance:

  They ensure that imaging equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions. 

• Radiation Safety:

  They are responsible for implementing radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff from unnecessary exposure. 

• Sterilization and Storage:

  They ensure the proper sterilization and storage of equipment. 

• Communication:

  They communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. 

• May train and supervise student radiographers or supervise other radiological technologists
