Job description
A Junior Accountant plays a crucial role in a company’s financial management, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, overseeing accounting functions, and providing valuable financial insights to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements), ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Month-End and Year-End Closing:
Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Ensure deadlines are met.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts, monitoring performance against budget, and providing variance analysis.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Present findings and recommendations to management.
General Ledger Maintenance:
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by reconciling accounts, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions.
Tax Compliance:
Prepare and file various tax returns, including income tax, GST, and payroll tax. Stay updated on tax regulations and changes.
Internal Controls:
Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Audit Support:
Assist in the coordination of external audits, providing auditors with necessary documentation and explanations.
Supervision and Training:
Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff and assist in their professional development.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance accuracy.
Special Projects:
Participate in ad-hoc financial projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
1-2 years of experience in accounting, with a background in a CA firm.
