Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Scrub Nurse to join our surgical team. The successful candidate will work closely with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe, sterile, and efficient surgical environment. The Scrub Nurse will be responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining the sterile field, and directly assisting during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating theatre, instruments, and surgical equipment before procedures.

• Maintain aseptic technique and monitor the sterile field throughout procedures.

• Assist the surgeon during operations by passing instruments and supplies.

• Count surgical instruments, sponges, and supplies pre- and post-operation to prevent retained items.

• Ensure all equipment functions properly before and during surgery.

• Work closely with the circulating nurse and surgical team to ensure patient safety and procedure efficiency.

• Adhere to infection control policies and procedures at all times.

• Support in post-operative patient care and theatre cleanup when required.

• Maintain accurate documentation, including surgical counts and incident reporting.

• Participate in continuing education and departmental quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with current [State/National] Nursing Council registration.

• Theatre/Scrub nurse training or certification (preferred).

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (depending on location).

• Minimum [1–2] years of perioperative nursing experience (preferred).

• Familiarity with various surgical specialties (orthopedic, general, OB/GYN, etc.) is an advantage.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Standing for extended periods during surgery.

• Exposure to bodily fluids, sharp instruments, and sterilization chemicals.
