We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Scrub Nurse to join our surgical team. The successful candidate will work closely with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe, sterile, and efficient surgical environment. The Scrub Nurse will be responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining the sterile field, and directly assisting during surgical procedures.
Prepare operating theatre, instruments, and surgical equipment before procedures.
Maintain aseptic technique and monitor the sterile field throughout procedures.
Assist the surgeon during operations by passing instruments and supplies.
Count surgical instruments, sponges, and supplies pre- and post-operation to prevent retained items.
Ensure all equipment functions properly before and during surgery.
Work closely with the circulating nurse and surgical team to ensure patient safety and procedure efficiency.
Adhere to infection control policies and procedures at all times.
Support in post-operative patient care and theatre cleanup when required.
Maintain accurate documentation, including surgical counts and incident reporting.
Participate in continuing education and departmental quality improvement initiatives.
Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with current [State/National] Nursing Council registration.
Theatre/Scrub nurse training or certification (preferred).
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (depending on location).
Minimum [1–2] years of perioperative nursing experience (preferred).
Familiarity with various surgical specialties (orthopedic, general, OB/GYN, etc.) is an advantage.
Excellent knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Team player with a professional and compassionate demeanor.
High level of physical stamina and manual dexterity.
Standing for extended periods during surgery.
Exposure to bodily fluids, sharp instruments, and sterilization chemicals.
Work in high-stress and emergency situations.
