Role overview:
Incumbent in this position is responsible and accountable for providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards as set forth in the Nursing Department’s Procedural manual and in compliance to general hospital protocols
Working as a staff nurse in the Outpatient Department, assisting in the
smooth and efficient running of the Outpatient service.
Roles and Responsibilities:
● Responsible for day wise special assignments and completes them accurately and timely.
● Makes an initial assessment of all patients in order of priority while applying principles of safe patient care.
● Takes responsibility of caring for all equipment’s and furniture and other related items in the unit realizing the need for cost effective and safe nursing care.
● Documents patient care in a manner that is clear, complete, and concise and in compliance with nursing documentation standards.
● Implements emergency life resuscitative measures according to BLS & ACLS protocols.
● Provide a safe environment for patients, staff, family and visitors.
● Reports patient condition to doctor as required without delay.
● Patient records will be maintained as per hospital standards, ensuring safety and confidentiality of the records.
● Upholds the nursing code of ethics and acts as a role model to other staff members.
● Ensure clear understanding and utilization of referral mechanisms within the practice.
● Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting others and exploring the mechanisms to develop new ways of working.
● Understand own role and scope in the organization and identify how this may develop over time.
● Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
● Practice infections controls measures to protect patient from acquiring of spreading infection, Demonstrates awareness of potential / actual risks of infection and modes of transmission. Utilizes universal precautions in nursing practice.
Required Skills:
General Nursing and Midwifery (alternative courses for male nurses) or B.Sc. Nursing from recognized university
Experience: 0-8 years
Sound knowledge of nursing systems and procedures.
Knowledge of nursing standards and protocols. Able to understand medical processes and procedures and prescription.
