Job Overview:
The Civil Engineer in Sales & Technical Support will be responsible for combining engineering knowledge with sales and customer support functions. This role involves understanding and addressing the technical needs of clients, recommending engineering solutions, and ensuring successful implementation of products or services. Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Sales Support:
o Assist the sales team in identifying potential clients and developing proposals for civil engineering solutions.
o Provide technical expertise during the pre-sales phase to support product/service recommendations.
o Conduct technical presentations, demonstrations, and product walkthroughs for customers.
o Address customer inquiries and technical questions related to civil engineering projects, products, or solutions.
2. Client Interaction and Relationship Building:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
o Understand customer needs and project requirements, and provide tailored technical solutions.
o Provide post-sales support, including troubleshooting, installation guidance, and product/service optimization.
3. Product and Solution Customization:
o Work with the product development or engineering team to customize or adapt products based on client specifications and requirements.
o Offer technical advice on product selection, applications, and performance standards.
o Ensure that all technical aspects of proposals and contracts are accurately documented.
4. Project Management and Coordination:
o Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, procurement, logistics) to ensure timely delivery of solutions.
o Oversee the technical aspects of ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and deadlines.
o Ensure compliance with industry standards, local regulations, and safety protocols.
5. Training and Development:
o Provide technical training and support to customers and internal teams on engineering products and services.
o Stay updated on the latest developments in civil engineering products, materials, and construction techniques.
6. Market Research and Feedback:
o Monitor industry trends, competitor products, and customer preferences to adjust sales strategies accordingly.
o Gather feedback from clients to improve product offerings and address any concerns or issues.
7. Documentation and Reporting:
o Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and internal stakeholders.
o Ensure that sales activities, technical solutions, and customer interactions are well-documented in CRM systems.
Qualifications:
• Educational Background:
o Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
o Additional qualifications in sales, business development, or marketing are a plus.
• Experience:
o 3–5 years of experience in civil engineering, preferably with exposure to sales or technical support in construction or engineering products.
o Experience working with clients in the construction, infrastructure, or manufacturing sectors is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills:
o Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, materials, and construction methods.
o Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other relevant engineering software.
o Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Sales and Communication Skills:
o Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical clients.
o Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
o Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
• Other Skills:
o Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
o Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
o Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
