Security field officers are responsible for protecting people, assets, and information from security threats. They may also be called facility security officers (FSOs).
Security field officer duties
Security risk assessment: Evaluate security risks and report threats to operations and personnel
Surveillance: Monitor premises and security cameras to identify threats and disruptions
Access control: Monitor and authorize entry to people and vehicles
Security protocols: Ensure security protocols are implemented and followed
Security incidents: Investigate and report security incidents
Security awareness: Ensure personnel are trained on security protocols and awareness
Communication: Communicate with staff, police, and other agencies
Security operations: Supervise and coordinate security operations
Security investigations: Conduct investigations into security-related matters
Additional responsibilities
Remove trespassers and wrongdoers
Secure exits, doors, and windows
Respond to alarms
Provide assistance to people in need
Apprehend and detain perpetrators
Submit reports on surveillance and other occurrences
