Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Purchase Manager to join our team. The Purchase Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of procurement for our construction projects, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services while maintaining quality standards and adhering to project budgets.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement procurement strategies to support construction project objectives, including cost reduction initiatives, supplier evaluation, and selection.
Source, evaluate, negotiate, and establish contracts with vendors and suppliers for the purchase of materials, equipment, and services required for construction projects.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify procurement needs, specifications, and timelines.
Manage supplier relationships and performance, including resolving issues, monitoring delivery schedules, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
Conduct market research and stay updated on industry trends to identify potential suppliers, products, and cost-saving opportunities.
Analyze procurement data and develop reports to track spending, evaluate supplier performance, and identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate budgeting, invoicing, and payment processing for procurement activities.
Implement and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and best practices to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Lead or participate in cross-functional teams and initiatives to drive continuous improvement and achieve departmental goals.
Stay informed about advancements in procurement technology and tools, and leverage them to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
Proven experience as a procurement manager or in a similar role within the construction industry, with a strong understanding of construction materials, equipment, and services.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
Solid understanding of procurement processes, contract management, and supply chain management principles.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with procurement software or ERP systems.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements governing procurement activities.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve goals and deliver results.
Flexibility to travel as needed and work occasional evenings or weekends to meet project deadlines.
