Job Summary:
The Transport Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the school’s transportation department. This role ensures that all transportation operations comply with safety regulations, operates within budget, and consistently delivers high-quality service. The manager will oversee scheduling, route planning, vehicle maintenance, and staff management.

Key Responsibilities:
Route Planning and Scheduling:

Plan and optimize daily routes for buses and school vehicles to ensure timely arrival and departure.
Adjust routes based on school schedules, traffic patterns, or road closures.
Maintain a tracking system to monitor routes and ensure efficient fuel consumption.
Safety and Compliance:

Ensure all vehicles comply with state and federal transportation laws and safety standards.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of buses and vehicles.
Train drivers and staff on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and first-aid practices.
Staff Supervision and Training:

Recruit, train, and manage drivers, mechanics, and other transportation staff.
Set clear performance standards and conduct regular evaluations.
Organize workshops or refresher courses to maintain high levels of safety and efficiency.
Vehicle Maintenance and Inventory:

Oversee the maintenance and servicing of all school vehicles, keeping records of repairs and expenses.
Coordinate with mechanics or external vendors for timely repairs and replacements.
Maintain an inventory of transportation-related equipment, spare parts, and supplies.
Communication and Coordination:

Act as the primary contact for parents, school administration, and drivers regarding transportation-related issues.
Address any complaints, delays, or incidents, providing solutions to prevent future issues.
Keep parents informed of delays, route changes, or emergencies via established communication channels.
Budget Management:

Develop and manage the transportation budget, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising safety.
Track expenses and prepare monthly and annual financial reports.
Suggest and implement cost-saving measures such as optimizing routes or fuel management.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in transportation management, logistics, or a related role.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in using route planning software and GPS tracking systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Valid driver’s license (commercial license preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a school or educational environment.
Familiarity with local geography and traffic regulations.
Experience with budgeting and financial planning.
